InBody Composition Analysis

InBody testing offers a precise and detailed analysis of your body’s composition, providing an accurate breakdown of muscle mass, fat distribution, and water levels. One key measurement is visceral fat—the fat stored deep around your internal organs—which is closely linked to inflammation, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and increased risk of all-cause mortality.

The scan also evaluates skeletal muscle mass, an essential marker of strength and mobility. Monitoring muscle mass becomes increasingly important with age, as we naturally lose muscle through a process called sarcopenia, which can affect balance, metabolism, and overall function.

Whether you're working toward weight management or specific fitness goals, the data from InBody scans supports informed, effective decision-making. At our practice, all scans are performed under physician supervision to ensure accurate interpretation and integration into your personalized health plan.

For the most comprehensive and actionable insight into your health and performance, combining InBody composition analysis with VO2 max and RMR testing offers a complete picture of your body’s composition, metabolism, and cardiovascular capacity.

What is an InBody composition analysis?

The InBody composition analysis is a quick, non-invasive, radiation-free test that provides a detailed analysis of your body composition. Unlike traditional scales, the InBody measures muscle mass, fat mass, total body water, intracellular/extracellular water, visceral fat, and segmental lean analysis—giving you a comprehensive and accurate picture of your physical health and fitness.

What to Expect During the Scan:

Preparation: You’ll be asked to remove shoes and socks and stand barefoot on the device. The scan uses safe, low-level electrical currents that pass through your body to analyze tissue composition.

Testing Procedure: The scan takes about 60 seconds. You’ll stand still while the device sends electrical signals through your body to measure the resistance of different tissues.

Results: Immediately after the scan, you’ll receive detailed measurements including lean muscle mass, body fat percentage, total body water, and segmental analysis of arms, legs, and trunk.

Post-Test Review: Dr. Watson will review and interpret your results with you, helping you understand your body composition and guiding personalized fitness and nutrition strategies. A copy of your results will be provided for you to keep.
